Almost-Spy Operation: Prevost's Intrigues in Peru

On 4 August, Peruvian essayist Santiago Roncagliolo, in a lengthy interview with Daniel Titinger, described Leo XIV's behind-the-scenes methods as Bishop Robert Prevost of Chiclayo, Peru.
According to Roncagliolo, Prevost quietly built coalitions, divided opponents, managed information, and preferred discreet political action to public confrontation. Roncagliolo is broadly sympathetic to Leo XIV.
"As a character to narrate he was a nightmare. He has no phrases, no scenes, no gestures. You ask the sources: 'What did Prevost say at that dramatic and crucial moment?' 'Nothing, I think'.'"
Weakening Opus Dei from Within
Interviewer Titinger described Prevost as "a Trojan horse": "He understands the adversary, doesn't confront him openly, but disables him from within. He's always quiet; that's why he wasn't well known."
Roncagliolo does not reject the characterization and discusses Prevost in those terms.
He also explains how Prevost weakened Opus Dei: "Prevost divided Opus Dei. He offered …Zambiri

Pope Leo XIV’s face featured on new set of Vatican coins
This marks the first time since 2014 that the papal image has been printed on the coins.

Pope Leo XIV’s face featured on new set of …
Pope Leo XIV’s image features for the first time in a new set of commemorative euro coins for Vatican City.
As announced by the Vatican City State Governorate on July 30, these coins are part of a new Vatican euro collector coin set honoring the new pontificate. This also marks the first time since 2014 that the papal image has appeared on the coins, following Pope Francis’ personal request that his face not be used.
Except for the 5-euro coin, the Vatican coins can be used to buy things in the 21 European Union member states that have adopted the euro as their common currency.
A unique design in the history of Vatican coin-making
Although these new coins with Leo are not the first to feature the pope’s face, they are part of an entirely unique design.
Leo’s coat of arms appears on the 1-cent, 2-cent, and 5-cent euro coins, while his face appears on the larger denominations.
The pope’s image has appeared on minted coins since the Middle Ages …Zambiri

Leo XIV Promotes Archbishop Who Backed Vaccine Mandates and Praised Bad Bunny

Today, Leo XIV has appointed Monsignor Eusebio Ramos Morales, 73, until now Bishop of Caguas, as the new Metropolitan Archbishop of San Juan, Puerto Rico.
He was ordained a priest in 1983 after completing studies in philosophy and theology in Puerto Rico, Mexico, the United States and Rome.
He has served as a parish priest, seminary rector, professor of dogmatic theology, Bishop of Fajardo-Humacao from 2008 to 2017, and Bishop of Caguas since 2017.
In 2024, he became President of the Puerto Rican Episcopal Conference.
The Puerto Rican bishops adopted one of the world's most restrictive implementations of Traditionis Custodes (2021), ending all Masses in the Roman rite on the island.
Hard-line COVID vaccine policy
In August 2021, Bishop Ramos signed the Puerto Rican bishops' pastoral instruction declaring that COVID vaccination was a "moral duty", that Catholic conscience objections were not recognized, and that priests and deacons were forbidden from issuing religious exemption letters …Zambiri

$10 Diesel Is Here: The "Off Switch" for Civilization?
The era of cheap energy and abundant food is being "turned off" piece by piece, and the latest lever being pulled is the global diesel supply. From Los Angeles gas stations hitting $8 a gallon to farmers paying $10,000 just to fill their tanks for harvest, the "Diesel debacle" has arrived. As refineries across the globe go offline and major exporters shut their borders, we are entering a "perfect storm" that could mirror the collapse of the Roman Empire. This isn't just about the price at the pump; it’s about the 20-30% of global crops that may never make it to your table.

Normalization of Pseudo Deaconesses at the Altar: On 26 July, the Parish of Timelkam in the Diocese of Linz, Austria, celebrated the patronal feast of St. Anne in Oberthalheim, reported the parish's Facebook page. As is now common in German-speaking dioceses, a female pastoral assistant, vested in an alb and liturgical scarf, was carrying out liturgical ministry from both the ambo and at the altar during the Eucharist.

Prevost’s gay "inclusion" is nothing other than his open rebellion against God and the Church. In his rebellion against God, he has backed sodomite priests and unrepentant sodomite pagans—such as his chef and his tailor—leading them to commit the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. Bishop Emerged from Hiding to Consecrate a Church – Bishop Schneider

Bishop Athanasius Schneider recalled his childhood in the underground Church of the Soviet Union during a talk in Cobh, Ireland, on August 3, AdVaticanum.com reports.
“There were times when we had gatherings like this, but we had to close the windows and the doors because we were checked by the secret police, and we had to hide priests.”
He recounted the story of Bishop Alexander Chira (1897-1983), a clandestine Greek Catholic bishop whom Soviet authorities urged “not to deny Christ, but only to become Orthodox,” thereby breaking communion with Rome.
“He refused,” Bishop Schneider said, and, as a consequence, he was imprisoned in “several concentration camps called gulags.”
Afterward, Bishop Chira lived under house arrest in Karaganda, concealing his identity as a bishop to avoid being sent back. “He could not reveal his identity as a bishop,” Bishop Schneider said. “Otherwise, he would be sent back. So he could only say to the people, ‘I am Father Alexander.’”

Historic French Church in Guadeloupe Hit by Repeated Break-Ins

The church Notre-Dame-du-Mont-Carmel in Basse-Terre, Guadeloupe, Caribbean, France, has suffered around 10 break-ins in four months, according to French public broadcaster Guadeloupe La 1ère.
Since late March, intruders have repeatedly entered the 17th-century church, leaving smashed stained-glass windows, broken donation boxes, damaged crosses, overturned furnishings, and other vandalism.
Rev. Jules Ahouandjinou called the attacks "a profanation that does not bear its name". Despite police complaints, surveillance cameras, and forensic evidence, the break-ins have continued.
Founded by the Jesuits in the 17th century, it is one of Guadeloupe's oldest Catholic churches, a protected French Historic Monument, and a major Marian pilgrimage site.

Serbia's Giant Cross Is Inspiring the World Again | Shalom World News
At the entrance to the Serbian city of Kragujevac, every road seems to lead to the Cross. Rising 18 meters into the sky, the St. George's Day Cross (Đurđevdanski Krst) has stood for more than 15 years as a powerful reminder that Christ remains at the heart of a nation shaped by faith. Designed by Serbian sculptor Zoran Ilić and consecrated in 2010 by the Serbian Orthodox Church, the monument bears a striking six-meter relief of Christ's Crucifixion on one side and an image of St. George on the other. This year, the Cross was lovingly restored after the Eparchy of Šumadija initiated conservation work to preserve one of Serbia's most recognizable Christian landmarks. The restoration included cleaning the monument, repairing damaged sculptural elements, renewing the gilded halos and protecting it for generations to come. For the people of Kragujevac, this is more than a monument. It is part of everyday life. Locals simply …Zambiri

Cardinal Aveline: “Every Religion Legitimately [!] Considers Itself True”

"Every religion legitimately considers itself to possess the truth," Cardinal Jean-Marc Aveline, Archbishop of Marseille and president of the French Bishops' Conference, said in an interview on Avvenire.it on August 5.
Talking about Marseille's religious diversity [where Arabic has long become the dominant language], Cardinal Aveline described the coexistence of Muslims, Jews, Buddhists, and Christians as a theological challenge: "We did not invent the plurality of religions, nor the fact that every religion legitimately considers itself to possess the truth."
On the Church's catholicity, Aveline claims: "The Creed we recite every Sunday embodies the Church's vocation to catholicity. If I had been born in China, I would have been Confucian; in Japan, Shinto."
He argued that the Church's catholicity means recognizing "the desire for God in the hearts of women and men of every religion."
Citing the Second Vatican Council, he said the Holy Spirit offers everyone "the possibility of being …Zambiri

Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to Saint Matthew 16,24-28.
Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wishes to come after me must deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.
For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.
What profit would there be for one to gain the whole world and forfeit his life? Or what can one give in exchange for his life?
For the Son of Man will come with his angels in his Father's glory, and then he will repay everyone according to his conduct."
Amen, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom."

However, it is also possible that the lack of a response is a matter of personnel connected with the basilica.
There is growing speculation that Cardinal Mauro Gambetti, Archpriest of Saint Peter’s Basilica, is due to be replaced soon. Rumors in Rome indicate that Gambetti’s replacement might be Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Cardinal Rolandas Makrickas, or Bishop Guido Marini, who are all thought to be friendlier to the TLM than Gambetti.
It is possible that a forthcoming transition in archpriest could be delaying a response about the celebration of a TLM in the basilica
Therefore, silence should not be understood as rejection — at least not yet.
Several Vatican sources told The Pillar the decision to allow the Mass last year happened after Cardinal Raymond Leo Burke asked the pope in an Aug. 22 audience to allow the Mass to be celebrated there...

Is Pope Leo maintaining a TLM ‘gray area’?

Last month’s illicit SSPX consecrations and subsequent excommunications raised expectations that Pope Leo might soon act to expand the celebration of the TLM in communities that are in union with Rome. But more than a month later, that expected papal action has not come. Credit: Thoom / Shutterstock. Pope Leo has made a number of small yet tangible gestures towards traditionalist communities in the first year of his pontificate – for example, receiving some of the bishops, cardinals, and religious superiors most closely connected to them, and allowing a traditionalist pilgrimage to celebrate Mass at St. Peter’s Basilica. Those measures have sharpened expectation in some corners that the pope has planned to address longstanding discontent over Francis’ liturgical policy, with a solution friendly to Catholics who prefer the older liturgical rubrics. Last week, though, the prefect of the Dicastery for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments said in an interview that Pope Leo …
