Poland Unveils Europe’s Tallest Statue of Our Lady: On today’s feast of the Assumption, Bishop Krzysztof Wętkowski of Włocławek consecrated Europe’s tallest statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary in the small Polish village of Konotopie. Standing 55.6 metres high, the monument was blessed during a solemn Mass attended by hundreds, with former Polish president Lech Wałęsa among the guests. Bishop Emeritus Wiesław Mering, who attended the ceremony, told AP: “The history of Christianity has ups and downs but this place is a reminder that Mary won’t give up on Poland.”
On November 1st 1950, Pope Pius XII declared ex-cathedra the Dogma of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary, in the presence of over 600 Bishops and 700,000 faithful.
Leo XIV’s Course Is Traditionis Custodes, Not Summorum Pontificum - Munich Archdiocese: The traditional Roman Mass has “indisputably shaped the life of faith of countless believers over the centuries and produced saints,” Marcus Nelles, head of the Canon Law Department of the Archdiocese of Munich, told Certamen.info on August 3. Traditionis custodes, he added, contains “no judgment that the older form is ‘harmful.’” Nelles' decisive ‘but’ is that Summorum Pontificum is “entirely replaced”. A priest’s former right to celebrate the Mass without episcopal permission “no longer exists.” A return to Summorum Pontificum is “not within the Archbishop’s competence.” The conclusion: “The present course is therefore not a return to Summorum Pontificum, but rather generous application within the framework established by Traditionis custodes.”
Friday, 15th August 1913 Pittsburg Witness Tells of Franks Standing in School, The Atlanta Constitution Atlanta Constitution August 15th, 1913 John W. Todd, of Pittsburg, PA., purchasing agent for the Crucible Steel company, who was with Frank at Cornell university, followed Mrs. Emil Selig to the stand. He was asked if he knew the general character of Frank while at college and replied that he did and that it was good. He was let off with no cross-examination and went over and shook hands with the defendant and his wife and mother. He then passed by the press table and shook hands with a newspaper man who formerly worked in Pittsburg. After staying a while and listening to the testimony of other witnesses and making queries about Jim Conley, Mr. Todd left the court room.
The 1958 conclave2 thus resulted in a farce of an election, and it could not have been otherwise, since this false conclave should never have taken place given the valid election of Pius XII’s successor. One point is worth noting: as soon as the true conclave ended, on 26 October, all suspended censures were reinstated; that is to say, at the second conclave, the cardinals who had incurred any censure were once again subject to it. Furthermore, once the farce of an election had ended, on 28 October, the entire conclave committed apostasy by pledging allegiance to the usurper newly elected by them, as a result of which all the cardinals and the successor to Pius XII lost their office by that very act, since they placed themselves outside the Church by promising obedience to someone who was not Pope, even though he appeared to be one! The Catholic Church was thus decapitated in all its governing bodies. (Source: first comment)
From a Christian perspective, several of these events are precisely the places where the Cross becomes concrete rather than theoretical. Burying a child or watching a marriage die does not automatically produce holiness, but it removes the possibility of remaining superficial. The man either turns toward grace or he turns toward bitterness and self-destruction. There is rarely a comfortable middle option after those particular losses.
Friday, 15th August 1913 Mother-in-Law of Frank Denies Charges in Cooks Affidavit, The Atlanta Constitution Atlanta Constitution August 15th, 1913 Following the testimony of those who claimed to have played poker at the Emil Selig home on the night of April 26, Mrs. Selig, Leo Frank's mother-in-law was placed on the stand and asked a number of questions about the happenings at her house on Sunday, April 27. To most of the questions from the state on cross-examination she replied that she had forgotten. When the witness took the stand, Attorney Arnold called on the state for the affidavit which Minola McKnight, the Selig's cook, signed at police station and later repudiated. "Mrs. Selig," said Mr. Arnold, "I wanted to ask you some questions about statements in this affidavit and find out if they are true. "Is it true that there was talk in your home about the time of the murder? Leo Frank being caught with a girl at the factory and that the negro cook asked if it was a Jew girl or a …More
The description is in Russian. Oh! My, the Russians are coming. The Russians are coming. Russia, Russia, Russia. Let's blame Russia! The level of hatred and ignorance is out of control. No wonder Yandex has grown so much. They don't censor like OTHER countries do. They don't track us and watch us like a hawk like OUR countries do. Most intelligent people don't turn to wikipedia like some post. Twisted history and facts. Well I will look into this forta/chat now. If it's from Russia, I know it will be safe to use.
In one of history’s darkest times and places, Saint Maximilian Kolbe continued his life’s greatest quest: to know, honor, and echo the assent of Mary to the Lord: ‘Be it done to me according to thy word.’

"Were you at the factory on April 26?" asked Mr. Arnold. "Yes." "What department are you in?" "The packing department." Open Letter to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV August 13 , 2026 Open Letter to His Holiness Pope Leo XIV Holy Father, With reverence for the office entrusted to you as successor of Saint Peter, and in communion with the Church which Christ built upon the apostles, I address you with this open letter. I do not do so lightly. What leads me to speak these words publicly is a concern that ultimately transcends every other ecclesial consideration: the salvation of souls. Salus animarum suprema lex — the salvation of souls is the supreme law. My question is a simple and earnest one: does the synodal process actually help bring souls closer to Christ and to eternal salvation? That is the decisive question for me. Holy Father, I fully realize that the Petrine office bears a responsibility of which someone standing outside that office can only have a vague inkling. Precisely for this reason, I write these words not out of a lack of reverence for the papal office, but out of love for that same office.…More
