Commissioner for Padre Pio's Hospital: Leo XIV has established a Steering and Supervisory Commission to address the long-running financial troubles of Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza, the southern Italian hospital founded by Padre Pio. The body, chaired by the Vatican's economy prefect Maximino Caballero Ledo, holds full operational powers and reports directly to the Pope. It will oversee efforts to stabilise the hospital, which carries debts of around €108 million to suppliers.
